Let’s celebrate!

Celebrate
On this Juneteenth, it seemed like the perfect time to celebrate. There are talented high school and college seniors graduating and plenty of children celebrating the end of school and moving on to the next grade. As a teacher, I am also celebrating the end of school!

Our cheerleaders
They help us reach the finish line of whatever project or goal we pursue. They encourage us to keep going. They listen to our complaints and offer much needed support and perspective. They draw us into their world so that we can take a break from our own issues. They are funny, entertaining, and insightful. We definitely need to thank them.

And show gratitude
A great way to do this is to be someone else’s cheerleader. When it is heartfelt, it gives us an opportunity to reminisce in the great things that are always happening all around us. Their accomplishments are our accomplishments too. In the past few weeks I have received compliments and have given them myself. I can honestly say that even better than receiving praise, is giving it.
