Description:

Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) classes are taught by Jane Romanos and Linda Beers at The Cobb School in Simsbury, CT.  Both Jane and Linda have studied with Dorothy Jones, a world-renowned Suzuki specialist in Early Childhood Education. Jane has completed 4 of the 5 stages of SECE training and Linda is very excited to have just completed stage 1!

Suzuki Early Childhood Education seeks to build on the child’s natural delight in learning and lays the foundation for life long learning. SECE is based on Shinichi Suzuki’s philosophy of education which includes the seven concepts:

  • Every child can learn
  • Ability develops early
  • Environment nurtures growth
  • Children learn from one another
  • Success breeds success
  • Parental involvement in education is critical
  • Encouragement is essential

SECE classes are team taught. For each class, the partner teachers plan, implement, and evaluate lessons and the overall program. The goal of SECE is to develop a healthy educational bond between parent/caregiver and child which will carry over beyond early childhood. The parent is the child’s first teacher. Therefore, activities are designed to teach a parent how to work with his/her child, developing a positive and nurturing home environment.

Class activities:

For each lesson, the parent and child arrive a few minutes before the beginning of the lesson in comfortable dress – we will be moving around a lot! During the week, be sure to listen to your Lullabies, Action Songs and Rhymes CD and practice the songs and rhymes at home with your child. It will be fun and will help you to participate in the activities in class more easily.

Getting started:

Be sure to contact Linda Beers (Linda@Lindabeers.com) or Jane Romanos (jromanos@sbcglobal.nent) before you attend the first class. At the first class, you will fill out the registration form and pay the tuition for the first 10 lessons. There will be two additional sessions in the winter and the spring, each with 10 lessons.* You will also need to buy the Lullabies, Action Songs and Rhymes CD for $25 which you will absolutely love!
