What the future holds/My hero

What the future holds
I’m on the verge of making a major life change. Some actions cannot be undone. My life will be permanently changed. What does the future hold for me? But life still goes on. Ordinary tasks still need to be accomplished during this most transformative time.

Music is more than entertainment
Making the choice to pursue creativity is exciting and scary at the same time. It is unfortunate that music and the arts in general are not valued in this culture. Music is considered to be entertainment and therefore not a necessity. I remember the story I was told about my beloved teacher, Roman Totenberg. As a child during the Polish-Soviet war, Mr. Totenberg played concerts to support his family. People paid him with butter and sugar. It was all they had. Music is far more than entertainment.

My hero
This story is enormously inspiring to me. When I studied with Mr. Totenberg, I always had a sense that he had seen it all. When he spoke, I absolutely knew that I could trust what he said. He was always loving, supportive and humorous.
