The beauty of imperfection
This card is the first one I completed and it is one of my favorites. The point to it is that our flaws are what make us beautiful. However, the use of the word “flaw” is problematic. What makes us feel less than, is really something that just makes us different from someone else, and being different is uncomfortable.
Now you see it, now you don’t
In this society so dominated by social media, young adults in particular can find themselves “influenced” by an individual who seems perfect. “Seems” is the important word here. Magicians use illusion to distract us and distort our perception. “Influencers” in many ways are doing the same thing. Like the wizard in The Wizard of Oz, we need to see the person behind the curtain. They could be using special lighting, hair and make up artists, and even digital alterations.
Authenticity and imperfection go hand in hand
While one of your qualities may not meet a so-called “standard,” it is really an expression of your authentic self. In order to experience your true self and feel valued, you must find your kindred spirits. You need to find your people. They are the ones who love you unconditionally and bask in your unique qualities.
